What is a Ceramic Coating?Ceramic coatings are extremely durable vehicle protection systems. Depending on the coating used they are suitable for use on paintwork, wheels, glass and plastic trim. Ceramic coatings form an invisible shell around your paint to protect it from rain, debris, and bug etchings. It’s far superior compared to the traditional waxes, sealants, or spray waxes. In the best conditions, a sealant might last 12 months on your paint. Ceramic coatings, specifically the ones that we offer, are rated to last between 3 & 9 years. Ceramic coatings may also be referred to as quartz, glass, or titanium coatings.

What Are The Benefits of a Ceramic Coating? The benefits of a ceramic coating include a deep gloss, easy maintenance and cleaning, resistance to stains and scratches, protection from UV rays, and prevention of oxidation. How Long Do Ceramic Coatings Last? This will depend on the type of coating and the environment in which the car is driven and stored. There will also be a dependency on how well the coating is maintained. Ceramic coatings form a highly durable bond with the paintwork which can last a number of years on a well maintained car. Ceramic coatings are resistant to chemicals so it will not be washed away by strong car wash shampoos and cleaning chemicals. However aggressive car washing with brushes or automatic car washes will reduce the lifespan of the product. We recommend only washing your car with premium recommended wash products (We can supply these products directly or point you in the direction of online retailers. The cost to you is the same either way.) As with any paintwork treatment good regular maintenance is required for the best results and longevity of the product. Ceramic Coatings can be removed by abrasion such as machine polishing, cutting compounds or cut and polish. Neglect such as failure to wash the vehicle regularly can also reduce the performance and durability of the product.

Does a Ceramic Coating Protect My Paint From Scratches?Ceramic coatings are amazing, but they are not invincible. If you want to protect your paint from actual scratches like branches or key scratches, you would need to go with a paint protection film on your vehicle.

What Should I Not Do After a Ceramic Coating?A new ceramic coating application will take about 1-2 weeks to cure to its full strength (Do not wash during this time). During that time, some precautions should be taken. You’ll need to avoid using products that can damage the coating, and always stay away from automatic touch-based car washes. Go touch-less or choose to wash by hand. Avoid getting the vehicle wet for at least 24 hours after application. Avoid automated touch-based car washes. Hand washes should use the two-bucket method. The two-bucket method of washing a car is proven to reduce swirl marks and produce the best wash results. Use one bucket for soaking your wash mitt – while the other is used to clean the wash mitt after each section you wash on the car. The ‘rinse’ bucket is filled with clean water, has grit guards, and is used to only rinse the dirt or debris from the wash mitt after each, individual section. Avoid washing your vehicle in direct sunlight - Direct sunlight creates heat, especially on dark vehicles. To ensure you get the best results from your maintenance, make sure you wash the car in a shaded area, outdoors (out of direct sunlight). It’s always best to wash the car when the sun is at its lowest levels, early morning or early evening. This will also help to avoid water spots and streaking.
